It’s been a couple of weeks since we released the new interface in private beta. Things are running smoothly and the comments we’ve gathered so far have helped us significantly improve usability, among others elements.
In order to access the new interface, simply add “/new” at the end of the URL you normally use to access your AceProject account. In other words, you can login using your normal credentials at https://yoursubdomain.aceproject.com/new/

If you notice any issues, strange behavior or usability shortcomings in the new interface, please report them to support@aceproject.com.
Feel free to share the beta URL for the new interface. The more people try it, the better.
We intend to handle bugs in the new interface just like we normally do. As soon as the fix for the bug you reported is online, we will notify you by email so that you may confirm all is okay. If worse comes to worse, you can always revert to the old interface to get things done in the meantime. And another thing… we have not updated the help pages yet so please disregard any issues that have to do with the help pages.
Finally, just so you know, during the beta testing period, email notifications that will be sent out when using the new interface will still contain links pointing to pages on the current, official interface.
Seems like its only a coat of CSS paint… Still no way to input time for multiple tasks on a single page, which is currently a PITA.
If I have to input time for 3 tasks, I have to:
– copy another week
– go in task 1
– enter time
– go back to week
– go in task 2
– enter time
– go back to week
– go in task 3
– enter time
– go back to week
– submit
While the following would be so much better:
– copy another week
– enter time
– submit

The new interface is not only a “coat of CSS paint”. It is much more than that.

Moreover, I can tell you that there are still ongoing enhancements in regards to the global search. Ultimately, it will be many times more powerful than the text search we used to have in the By Description and Custom task reports.
I do understand from your comment that time entry is particularly painful for you as it is for many other AceProject clients. That is why you may expect a complete overhaul of time entry in AceProject, probably before the end of 2011.

I’ll check out the new update so more – funny enough one of the enhancements I was hoping for was exactly this – the time entry, that’s biggest challenge I face with my employees about entering their time, they complain about the all the back and forth clicking.

My team and I have been working with the new interface for the last couple of days and are very pleased. Still exploring, but find the GUI to be intuitive and attractive – thank you!

Is the new interface available for intranet packages or just the hosted accounts?

The new interface will be officially rolled out in early October at which time it will be available both for hosted accounts and in our intranet solution.
Hence, your maintenance plan will not only allow you to benefit from the new interface but many other new features that are coming (for instance, our recurring task module).
