AceProject provides you with 2 sets of fields for start and end dates. This allows you to compare actual task and project durations with expected numbers.
Actual task start and end dates may be provided by the end user but AceProject also has an automatic mode which populates these dates with the current date when changes to the Task Status are performed. When working in automatic mode, here is how AceProject will populate the task Actual Start Date and Actual End Date fields:
- The Actual Start Date will be automatically populated with the current date when the status on the task is changed from a “Waiting” status to an “In Progress” or “Completed” status.
- The Actual End Date will be automatically populated with the current date when the status on the task is changed from a “Waiting” or “In Progress” status to a “Completed” status.
The option associated with populating task actual dates automatically or manually may be found under Project Tab > Edit Project , in the “Default Values” section. When a new project is created, this option is set to “Automatic” mode, by default.
